(WEB-based semINAR) A workshop or lecture delivered over the Web. Webinars may be a one-way Webcast, or there may be interaction between the audience and the presenters.

Short for Web-based seminar, a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web.

A key feature of Webinars is their interactive elements -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Contrast with Webcasts, in which the data transmission is one way and does not allow interaction between the presenter and the audience.

A webinar is a web conference - typically one-way (from the speaker to the audience with limited audience interaction) such as in a webcast. Webinars can be collaborative and include polling and question & answer and voting sessions to allow full participation between the audience and the presenter. In some cases, the presenter may speak over a standard telephone line, while pointing out information being presented onscreen, and the audience can respond over their own telephones, speaker phones allowing the greatest comfort and convenience. There are web conferencing technologies on the market that have incorporated the use of VoIP audio technology, to allow for a completely web-based elearning communication.

A webinar is a web seminar. More and more companies are using webinars to reach out to customers, prospects and employees.

A Webinar is a live video presentation delivered via the internet with two-way audio communication by phone. Participants will see the presentation slides on their own computer monitor and can ask questions anytime during the event. These are presentations that you "attend" from the comfort of your own home, office, or any location that has a computer and a telephone.

Web conferencing is used to conduct live meetings, training, or presentations via the Internet. In a web conference, each participant sits at his or her own computer and is connected to other participants via the internet. This can be either a downloaded application on each of the attendees' computers or a web-based application where the attendees access the meeting by clicking on a link distributed by e-mail (meeting invitation) to enter the conference.

What is the difference between webinars and webcasts?
•Webinars are online seminars or presentations with interactive elements. You can interact with the audience, let people "raise their hand" to ask questions, take polls and more.
•Webcasts are presentations without the interaction, like watching a film rather than attending a workshop.

Webinars allow you to reach out to people all over the world without the travel schedules and expenses. Connect and collaborate with more people in less time. Webinars can also be recorded and played back later, so that those who missed the live event can still watch and learn.

In the early years of the Internet, the terms "web conferencing" was often used to describe a group discussion in a message board and therefore not live. The term has evolved to refer specifically to live or "synchronous" meetings.

Some popular webinar software (also called web seminar software) includes Webex, GoToMeeting, Adobe Acrobat Connect, Microsoft Office Live Meeting. There are many more software packages available for broadcasting, centralized conferencing, chatting, collaboration, conference calls, courses, distance learning and eLearning.

e-Seminars are electronic seminars delivered over the Internet using live streaming video, digital whiteboards, audio and graphics. Unlike classroom seminars, e-Seminars are available anytime and anywhere you have an Internet connection. Eliminate travel and other costs associated with attending classroom seminars. There are many free webinars that are instructional, some interactive, some are recorded, some are live events. A free webinar is a good way to get a web tour and view webcasts and web demos. There are multi-media virtual classrooms, some using webcams, where presenters use voip for delivering their seminars. Remote desktop control is often used for sharing over an online network.

On-line learning and online tutorials and presentations save travel costs. You can have polls and surveys published over your network - and get real-time answers. Teleconferencing enables participants to attend a web conference with leaving their own computer or office. It's as easy as sending a text message.

A Webinar lets you reach out to large groups of remote customers, prospects and employees at a fraction of the cost of meeting in person.

web conferencing is perfect for team collaboration, sales presentations and training sessions -- any time you want to add a visual dimension to your teleconferencing. Automated teleconferencing is an easy, economical way to meet with two or more remote parties. Use web conferencing alone or as a supplement to teleconferencing.

As part of your webinar planning, you determine your target audience and message, the date and time of the session(s), your speakers, and the basic marketing plan to invite your guests.
